What's the 1st visit like?

​The first chiropractic visit takes about 45 minutes.   We ask that you arrive about 10 minutes early for your appointment. You will start by filling out intake forms.  You will have the opportunity to discuss your health concerns with the chiropractor and a full examination of your areas of concern will take place.  We will take the time to then explain the problem and the recommended treatment.  You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.  Typically treatment is included in the first visit as well.  We will give you recommendations and what to expect with regard to the number of treatments your particular condition may require. 

What are follow-up visits like?

Follow-up visits are booked on an 'as needed' basis.  There is no long-term commitment, or contract to sign to start care at our office.  Your treatment is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Our visits generally are 15-20 minutes in length and may include treatments such as spinal manipulation or mobilization, soft tissue therapy (such as massage/various muscle release techniques/instrument assisted muscle release), electrical therapies, heat and exercise instruction.  

Once I see a Chiropractor, do I have to go forever? 

The short answer is no.  Not at our office.  We have many patients who contact our office for this reason.  We treat when you need to be treated and every person is unique.   We have many patients who feel better in just a few short visits and we see them again, when they need us!  Other patients, for more chronic conditions, find relief with periodic treatment.  The choice ultimately, is yours and there is no pressure for re-booking or constant phone calls asking when you will be in our office next.

What do I wear?

We can usually treat you in your regular clothing.  We will often recommend that you wear something comfortable.  

Will it hurt?

Despite some misconceptions, chiropractic treatment is not, in itself, painful.  We are working on areas however that are sore.  As such, some discomfort (or therapeutic pain) is to be expected.  We constantly check in with you during your treatment to assess your level of comfort.   Please do let us know if you are uncomfortable at any time with the treatment.  You always have the ability to ask questions or let us know if you are not comfortable with a treatment being provided. 

Will my insurance cover treatment?

Many insurance companies do cover chiropractic treatment.  Please check with your insurance company for more information.  There are many companies that we can direct bill on your behalf and save you from out-of-pocket expenses.  Sometimes you may have a co-pay or deductible owing to the clinic, depending on your coverage.  We also take on WSIB and motor-vehicle accident cases, and co-ordinate payment of your care directly with them.
